The world increasingly sees the importance of user-centric solutions that are demand-driven, relevant, and affordable. Today’s innovation ecosystem is diffuse, with smart ideas coming from every corner of the world. Empowered by digital platforms and new forms of financing, the opportunities for accelerating innovation—wherever it starts—have never been greater. Entrepreneurs in low- and middle-income countries who have direct experience working with limited resources may be the best source for frugal innovations that address the needs of the poor and can scale. This panel will explore examples of entrepreneurs supported by mixed financing in the context of countries in Africa and India.
