Neighborhood Economics: A Digital Workforce Prep Tool for Achieving Financial Self-Sufficiency

Education is a central factor in both individual and community economic stability. In order to address and break down the structural barriers inhibiting citizens and neighborhoods from achieving financial self-sufficiency, a drive for creative, innovative solutions for workforce preparation, skill building, credentialing and access to professional networks, are needed to make a sustainable impact. Digital On-Ramps (DOR) is a free, education and work readiness tech platform, first piloted in a federally designated “Promise Zone” neighborhood with persistent poverty, in Philadelphia, PA, to help disenfranchised communities of young people and adults obtain the resources needed to effectively join the labor market.
