THE GREAT INTERSECTION: HEALTH, MONEY, AND THE ENVIRONMENT

Bridget Brennan, PATH

A major objective of the new Sustainable Development Goals is to encourage a more integrated approach to addressing economic, social, and environmental challenges. Adopting sustainable food production that also improves health can mitigate crises like under-nutrition and create new sources of income that reduce the need for environmentally destructive activities. The intersection of health, livelihoods, and the environment is especially critical when it comes to nutrition. This session will highlight how innovative approaches to meeting the nutrition needs of local populations as well as expanding their financial security, can ultimately lead to conservation, improved health outcomes, and economic growth.
