Valuing Mother Nature - Measuring and Monetizing Ecosystem Services

Nick Wobbrock, Blue Forest Conservation

As climate change intensifies, the need for investment to build environmental resilience has never been greater. Alternative models that leverage private capital, such as pay-for-success, represent an opportunity to attract new sources of funding to meet critical environmental challenges. How do you measure “success” and how do you make the economic case for environmental conservation to stakeholders? This panel will discuss new technologies and approaches to measuring everything from the impact of forest restoration on water yield to carbon accounting and rates of deforestation in the Amazon and how investors use this data to fund much needed environmental initiatives.
