Next in Financial Inclusion: A New Type of Fund to Catalyze Inclusive Fintech

Jane Del Ser, BFA (Bankable Frontier Associates)

As financial inclusion transforms into inclusive fintech, stupendous barriers remain ahead of the industry. The startups that will lead the charge from emerging markets have difficulty raising capital to accelerate their traction and the lessons they learn are usually not shared widely. To address those twin challenges, the Catalyst Fund blends the contributions of diverse players: donors offer funding and guidance, investors identify promising startups and consultants roll up their operational sleeves. Hear from the different participants how we’re creating a new type of fund to elevate this nascent industry. We also believe the approach might work in other areas in need of concerted innovation. Catalyst Fund is supported by The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and JPMorgan Chase & Co, and is fiscally sponsored by Rockefeller Philanthropy Advisors and managed by BFA (Bankable Frontier Associates). Our investor partners include Accion Venture Lab, Omidyar Network, Gray Ghost Ventures and Quona Capital. Visit www.catalyst-fund.org. Session Length 40 min panel, 20 min Q&A
